Participation in Australia Trade

Mission to the US

G’DAY USA Water Forum – January 14 to 15th, 2010

www.australia-week.com/los-angeles-events/water-policy-forum

Atlantis with our Business Development Manager for North America, Linda Maley, participated in the Australian Water Trade Mission to the US. Among the various events was the Australia-USA Water Sustainability and Management Forum.

The presentations, panels and interactive dialogue focused on water scarcity issues relevant to Australia and the US, with a strong exchange of possible methods and policies to respond to water sustainability and management. Points raised:

  • Exchange old “1930” rate perimeters (not priced to volume) for efficient use perimeters;
  • Foster interdisciplinary work that builds cohesive public / private partnerships with the end-user community in land use, water supply, eco-system protection and socio-economic vitality.

Increase water source diversity and recycled water interconnectivity for climate resilient supply:

  • Build a trustworthy, reliable anchor for recycled water that ties in quality treatment, measurement and metering, optimized with limited energy use;
  • Educate on the water quality cascade that shows how recycled water is the cleanest water supply apart from potable water;
  • Suite the level of treatment to the need; based on contaminant source removal and treatment process
  • Educate on the agriculture ecological footprint backed by high value, opportunistic crops that are weather based and less water intensive;
  • Encourage “Green Build” to be Blue and Green.
  • Educate consumer perception that water is abundant and cheap

New Staff Member in Sales for NSW

From the end of last year Atlantis is very proud to have among it’s team member a very valuable new addition. Edward Sanchez is Atlantis’ NSW Sales & Market Development and has been providing for one of the most challenging markets our Atlantis environmental and sustainable solutions.

Born in Chile and arriving at the tender age of 11, Edward was educated in Melbourne Vic.

Deciding to move to Queensland at the age of 18 to attend further studies in Sales Management and Marketing at Ithaca College.  All whilst also working for the then Besser Roof Tiles.

At the age of 22 he joined Epirez Australia (Engineering Construction Products) in Brisbane, later to be promoted and transferred to NSW to take on a national role. Where Edward took on further studies in Civil Engineering at UTS.

Returning to Queensland after 5 years, Edward then took on the role of State Manager for Scancem Materials (Steel Fibres and Concrete additives).

A move to NSW for  Fibrecon (Steel Fibres) was inevitable for the 2000 Sydney Olympics construction boom. Later to be appointed by Welded Mesh (Smorgan Steel), to the position of Major Accounts Manager.

Edward was headhunted by James Hardie FRC Pipes to take on the NSW/ACT Territory Management role, which he held successfully for 5 years before joining Atlantis in October 2009.

Edward’s background in Civil and General construction, allows us to have a hands on knowledge of what is required to achieve successful outcomes.
