Atlantis first Australian company in Unites States Green Building
Council
Specialist water management company, the Atlantis Corporation, is the first Australian company accepted into the prestigious Unites States Green Building Council (USGBC).
Atlantis’ acceptance by the USGBC marks the company’s growing product and systems recognition in the United States’ water industry and acknowledgement as an environmentally sustainable alternative to traditional stormwater engineering methods.
Atlantis MD, Humberto Urriola, has invested significant time and resources to enter the growing ‘green’ market in the USA, including the appointment of distributors, speaking roles, involvement in trade exhibitions and a sustained communications program with decision makers.
“The USGBC is becoming a powerful industry organization, with thousands of members and federal government recognition and support. They have been integral in developing and implementing the LEED Guide (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) and offering solutions to environmental problems,” said Mr Urriola.
“Being the first Australian company in the USGBC is also tremendous recognition of our innovative products and systems and we are very proud,” he added.
The company’s expanding presence in the North American market is in addition to its strong representation in the Asian, European and UK markets.
USGBC Programs
The annual U.S. market in green building products and services was more than $7 billion in 2005 and is now nearing $12 billion in 2007. USGBC supports this effort with the following programs:
LEED Green Building Rating SystemTM
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a voluntary, consensus-based national rating system for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. Developed by USGBC, LEED addresses all building types and emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resources selection, and indoor environmental quality. LEED is a practical rating tool for green building design and construction that provides immediate and measurable results for building owners and occupants.
Chapter Programs
There are more than 70 regional USGBC chapters nationwide providing green building resources, education, and networking opportunities in their communities.
Education
USGBC provides top quality educational programs on green design, construction, and operations for professionals from all sectors of the building industry. More than 54,500 designers, builders, suppliers, and managers have attended USGBC educational programs to gain practical knowledge, explore new business opportunities, and learn how to create healthier, more productive and more efficient places to live and work. USGBC also hosts Greenbuild, the largest international conference and expo focused on green building.
Emerging Green Builders
