EcoSoil® medium
Atlantis’s exclusive range of bio-engineered Ecosoils use naturally occurring micro-organisms to break down daily urban and industrial pollution, neutralising toxic chemicals.
Used with Atlantis® Drainage Cells, Tanks and Channel systems, contaminated run-off water percolates through the Ecosoil and is converted into environmentally neutral, usable water supplies.
- Accumulation of these contaminates in soils and waterways are a major health and environmental concern.
- Ecosoils remediate commonly occurring contaminates such as: Polychlorinated Biphenylas, Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbons, Organophosphates, coal tars, pesticides and herbicides that are carcinogenic to humans. Even some heavy metals such as arsenic, chromium and selenium can also be biologically degraded using Atlantis Ecosoil.
- Specifically recommended plant species form an integral part of the system to phyto-remediate toxic chemicals and metals such as lead and zinc.
- Other pollutants such as nitrates and phosphorates, which cause algal blooms and other environmental damage in waterways, can also be successfully treated using specialised organic materials that are blended into Atlantis® Ecosoil.
- A range of Atlantis® Ecosoils are available for typical water purification and management situations including landscape gardens, roadways, railways, wetlands, sporting tracks and fields and leach drains.
- Tailored Ecosoils are also specifically designed for situations where exceptional conditions exist.
